Creating clear and informative image-based figures is a simple yet underreported process. ImageJ remains the gold standard for image manipulation, however, it can be difficult to comprehend, especially for first-time users. Here, I run through the basics of creating a publication-ready figure using fluorescence imagery, ImageJ and Adobe Illustrator.
